Welcome to Whitewater Ridge, a mountaintop community
running for more than a mile along the ridge of Waddle Mountain.
Whitewater Ridge is a nature lover's paradise. Surrounded on three
sides by the Nantahala National Forest, the beautiful Whitewater
River can be directly accessed from this property. Waterfalls
and native brown trout await the fly-fisherman. The view off the
West/Northwest side of the ridge is a panorama of all the mountains
surrounding Cashiers. Starting to your left you will see Round,
Flat, Big Terrapin, Whiteside, Shortoff, Yellow, and possibly
Black Rock and Hogback Mountains in the distance. Looking to the
south & east you can see the foothills of South Carolina and
spectacular views of Lake Jocasse & Lake
Keowee.
Every lot is positioned by GPS to have Whiteside
Mountain, reputed to be the oldest mountain in the world, as the
centerpiece of your view. This majestic monolith of granite rises
from the valley floor as a startling reminder of the mysteries
of nature and the universe. Nowhere else in the area do you get
the full impact of this mountain older than the Himalayas.
Equally soul-satisfying views await you off the
South/Southeast side of Whitewater Ridge. Here you will look over
the foothills to Lake Jocassee shimmering in close-up and Lake
Keowee in the distance. On a clear day you'll see the stadium
at Clemson. The lights of Greenville and other cities across the
Piedmont will glow in the nighttime sky.
Elevations
here (3400 to 3800 ft.) assure you of cool, cool summers and make
this the perfect place for your mountain home. Whitewater Falls,
the highest waterfall in the eastern U.S. is only minutes away
by car or a moderate hike through Natahala National Forest from
the property.
